I thought that it would be relevant to go to Livia's two day portrait masterclass as i plan to sculpt my own face for the upcoming project. I was really excited to see how this sculpt would turn out as previously it took my nearly 3 months to sculpt a single portrait sculpture and over this weekend i only had 2 days to do a full portrait sculpt. i was really proud and pleased with how my sculpt turned out as the amount of time was very limited, I had learnt so much and definitely felt confident with my upcoming project and also feel ahead of the class within my practice. recapping on my previous blogs i cannot stress enough how much i pay attention to detail and the smaller things when walking from location to location. Livia's class was based in brixton and as I'm currently living in tooting which is a heavily cultured location i like the juxtaposition between Brixton and Tooting. When travelling there is so many things to inspire me and my practice and i notice more objects, street art, architecture, people and i appreciate it so much more and always think of how i can incorporate it within my work; it was a good way to start the day before the long hours of sculpting ahead of me.
The key thing that i have learnt over the weekend is that when it comes to sculpting i don't have to be so precious with my work and to just keep referencing back to my measurements and mostly just have fun with it. For future purposes i will study the human figure a bit more and understand the correct terms to further my knowledge.
